About Spun Silk

We pride ourselves on the versatility of our products. A unique product - spun silk can be easily blended with other types of materials (such as wool, cotton, polyester, etc), and is suitable for manufacturing a greater variety of garments. Our products retain their characteristics of comfort and good absorbency, while at the same time, incorporating those characteristics of other materials.

Characteristics of Silk Products

Silk is a type of natural fibre and is more durable than some other types of synthetic fibres. The silk, which is coloured by a variety of fabric colour dyes, may be used for many types of products, including garments, ornamental products and interior decoration.

The main characteristics of our silk products are as follows:
  • Comfort
    Silk is made from a type of natural fibre so that garments made from silk have a very comfortable feel when worn. As it is naturally smooth to touch, it causes little friction to the skin.

  • Good absorbency and wicks away moisture effectively
    Due to the inherent nature of natural silk, it has many minuscule holes within each strand of silk which makes wearing silk garments cooling. Silk also has the natural ability to wick away moisture and perspiration so that the wearer stays cool throughout. Hence, silk garments are suitable for warm climates.

  • Warm
    The minuscule holes within each strand of silk also help to trap body heat so that the wearer is kept warm in cold climates.

The advantages of spun silk over pure silk fibres and fabrics are:
  • The variation in the fine quality of the spun silk fibres render spun silk highly suitable for the making of a variety of garments, including men’s outer garments and women’s high end garments;

  • The most significant quality of spun silk is that it can be easily spun with other types of fibres, rendering this silk more versatile for manufacturing a greater variety of garments; and

  • Compared with traditional natural silk processing, we are able to utilise the by-products from other silk manufacturers and use our own in-house process in extracting these by-products to derive our own unique type of spun silk which is machine-washable.
